I read this book when it first came out years ago…one of the top ten on my list of great books…my daughter loved it as well….looking forward to seeing the movie…though not really thrilled with the lead characters…hope they do it justice.

There was a great interview (and photo shoot) with Reese Witherspoon in the most recent copy of Vogue promoting the movie. It’s such a magical, whimsical book, and judging from the trailers and photos, the movie will capture those qualities really well.

I thought the book was very well written and I would love a copy. I don’t know about the movie though. I might see it but it looks too glam, clean, Hollywood. Why did they choose Robert Pattenson as the main character?

Water for Elephants was and is an amazing story. I couldn’t put it down once I started! And to know that a movie is being made about the story with some of my favorite actors in it, is really wonderful. I have purchased the soft cover as well as the book for my e-Reader! Just Perfect!!

I absolutely love this book, it completely changed the way I think of literature. It’s absolutely captivating and had me more emotionally involved than most books I’ve ever read. A spectacular piece of writing, so excited to see the movie!

We read this book for our book club several years ago. It provided a great dicussion and was liked by all. I’m looking forward to the movie and to my inaugural Algonquin book event on April, 26th!

I’ve read it four times and each time, I cry on page 13 and I find more deep meanings about the nature of truth. I have never read anywhere that Gruen was aiming for any thread about truth, but I cannot believe that she did that by accident. Will try to catch this discussion, one of my all-time favorites, can’t wait for the movie!

I loved Water for Elephants. My “big Sister” (I will be turning 60 on May 1) lent me her copy after her daughter had read it too. We had lost both our parents a few years prior and our mother had alzheimers so the characters really touched us. The book was an all around terrific read.
