  81. Although it’s high on my booklist, I still haven’t read Water for Elephants and would love love love an autographed copy. Saw the preview for the movie version on Friday when I went to see The Conspirator (Mary Surratt was unjustly hanged). When I began reading The Help I just couldn’t put it down; what a profound book. Later on a road trip I listened to it in audiobook format and that was even more amazing.

  84. I want to run away to the circus, but I’m thinking tightrope-walks with a mobility assistance service dog is a no-go. And Luke says No Way is he going to balance a ball on his nose wearing a tutu *or* put his fluffy golden head inside a tiger’s many-sharp-toothed gaping maw.

    :::sigh:::

    Guess I’ll have to stay in struggling writer land for now . . .

  144. I’ve introduced this book to two of my book clubs, and led both discussions. I was amazed to find that some people did not like WFE. I’ve read it four times and each time, I cry on page 13 and I find more deep meanings about the nature of truth. I have never read anywhere that Gruen was aiming for any thread about truth, but I cannot believe that she did that by accident. Will try to catch this discussion, one of my all-time favorites, can’t wait for the movie!
