Today is the first day that you can buy Coach Roy Williams‘ new memoir Hard Work; A Life On and Off the Court. His autobiography describes his hardscrabble childhood in the mountains of Western North Carolina, and the experiences which helped to inspire in him the determination and hard work which shaped his success. The book spells out how he recruits, teaches, and motivates his players, and how he’s shepherded teams through some of the most nail-biting games at both Kansas and UNC. Its a must read for any fan of college basketball.

I received an advanced copy of the book for promotional purposes – I could not put it down once I got started reading it. Great job by Tim Crothers and the editors making a compelling story very coherent and entertaining.
My husband grew up rooting for UNC. I’d love to give him a copy!
As a UNC Chapel Hill Basketball fan, I own a few Dean Smith biographies. I can’t wait to add a Roy Williams one to my collection!

My wife picked up a copy the day it came out for us and it is just a fantastic read. The only criticism is that I was REALLY hoping for a little more detail to that 2000 NCAA halfcourt conversation with coach Kay in Winston-Salem…oh well, I guess I’ll just have to buy the sequel 🙂

As a chapter leader for KU in Southern California during the Roy Williams days (and now), I really admire Coach Williams. He is a true gentleman and one of the greatest coaches ever. Although I love Bill Self, I still miss Coach Williams. I’d love to get an autographed copy of his book!!
A signed copy of this book would be an excellent Christmas present for my father a die hard Heels fan.
My mom thinks she was one of the first to know that RW was coming to UNC to coach. Both my parents admire him and would be ecstatic over an autographed copy of this book.

I am a Duke fan but unlike most Dukies I do root for Carolina when they aren’t playing the Devils! I am curious to know more about Roy. I ran into him once at the Charlotte airport – it was so funny to see him in real life, not on TV.
All the excerpts I have read are greatly insightful and make me admire Coach Roy even more. Glad that basketball season is beginning!
