Appearing at trade shows from New Jersey to Florida, being interviewed by the likes of Entertainment Weekly, The Nervous Breakdown, and NPR, and receiving rave reviews from bloggers (like The Book Lady’s Blog, an in-house fave), Varner is making a name for himself with his acclaimed memoir, NOTHING LEFT TO BURN. The book, which published this past Tuesday, is the story of Jay, a young reporter; his father, a dedicated fire fighter; and Jay’s grandfather, a local arsonist. As an adult, Jay comes home and uncovers his family history, trying to clarify the experiences of his childhood and understand the motivations of the men he takes after.
