WIN THIS: Merge Giveaway
ALL I WANT FOR CHRISTMAS IS MERGE
.
Now that Thanksgiving has come and gone, I think it’s time that I can safely declare my love of holiday tunes. Last winter, I was belting, humming, and dancing along to “Baby, It’s Cold Outside” by Leon Redbone and Zooey Deschanel well into February. This winter, the biggest contender for my holiday earworm is Julian Koster’s rendition of “Frosty the Snowman” off The Singing Saw at Christmastime. Those of you who’ve read Our Noise—or who went to college with In an Aeroplane over the Sea safely in their iPod’s “Top 25 Most Played”—will know that Koster was the bass, banjo, and … singing saw … player for Neutral Milk Hotel. And, though it’s quite a departure from Neutral Milk Hotel’s sound, Koster’s solo Christmas album is pretty darn creepy-fantastic..
.
To get you in the holiday spirit, Algonquin and Merge are pairing up to give away TWO copies of The Singing Saw at Christmastime. And, if you promise you’ve been nice this year, we’ll even throw in a Merge tote bag, a Superchunk CD, and a copy of Our Noise: The Story of Merge Records, The Indie Label That Got Big and Stayed Small. Just leave a comment here on our blog or on our Facebook page to enter.

Wow, that’s some cool looking stuff!
Wowsers! Christmas is swell, Christmas is nifty. A Merge package beats the pants off of any other gifty!
I’ve heard great things about this album. Sweet idea, Algonquin Books! Happy Holidays.
Yay! Algonquin rocks. Around the Christmas tree.
I’m a sucker for Christmas music! A fine holiday giveaway, thanks!
Awesome!
Awesome giveaway, and lovely offering! Thank you!
You are soooo good looking!
yessiree I am in to win.
Having seen Arcade Fire it’s no wonder Merge is so successful. My father was trying to make us leave the Garden because my brother and I had school the next morning. Thankfully my mother is more music than us, and she wasn’t budging. It was like a religious experience!! The experience made our band work harder and keep our focus. Hoping Merge Records and us cross paths one day.

I’ve been buying Merge Records’ records for 30 years and am thankful they are still churning out quality! Never sell out!
Great giveaway- I’ve been looking forward to reading the Merge book for some time now:)
Merge is my once and future label. Polvo, Mag Fields, Barbara Manning, David Kilgour, NMH, and the almighty Superchunk. Oh, and some band called Arcade something. A label of integrity is rare, and it’s also nice if their records are the best in the world. Carry on, M&L.
The Merge book is fantastic! I sat down and read it in one sitting as soon as I received it. I guess if I win someone else will get a copy for Christmas and get to have the same wonderful experience!
me want! i would give them such a good home.
