20 Years of Craig
It was 20 years ago today that Craig Popelars came to Algonquin Books. Twenty exuberant, creative, hilarious, energetic, devoted, book-filled, beer-filled, prank-filled years. Craig is the mad marketing genius behind Algonquin. He’s the man who puts our books in your hands, on your shelves and in your hearts. And he does it with a passion and wit second to none.
This is Craig with just a few of the hundreds of books he has loved working on here at Algonquin:
West of Here by Jonathan Evison
An Arsonist’s Guide to Writers’ Homes in New England by Brock Clarke

Last Child in the Woods by Richard Louv
In the Time of the Butterflies by Julia Alvarez

I see a lot of books I’ve loved in that stack!
I have long thought that Craig is one of the best of the best. He not only knows his books and his business, but he is also darn cute as well.
Congratulations Craig on so skillfully representing all that I consider important in this world of books, publishing and book selling that I hold dear to my heart.
Craig, you are a prime example of loving what you do … congratulations on 20 years with Algonquin. Authors, booksellers, and readers have benefited from your dedication, tons of hard work, and love for really good stories.
Craig! How fabulous! Congrats on 20 years of amazing! Has anything topped the Revised Fundamentals of Caregiving road trip tour which included a bus trip to the world’s largest man made hole in the ground in Utah?

That is a pretty terrific stack of books there, I love a genre I call Southern Dysfunctional, and can always depend on Algonquin to bring me the best. Thank you!
