  8. Here we are in 2013 and no New Stories from the South, going on THREE years now–new Southern voices are not being discovered and Algonquin is losing out. Most folks don’t have time to scour literary journals looking for their favorite SS authors much less find new ones. I don’t know of any series that is missed as much as this one. Shame on Algonquin for not re-instituting NSS SOON!

  12. I, too, am anxiously awaiting another New Stories from the South edition for 2011 & 2012. The last review I read for the 2010 edition said many of the stories lacked the characteristic “Southernness” of previous collections. I was afraid they were no longer publishing at all. Any news on when we can expect something?

  14. Wish we’d see a new edition. I’m a Southern writer publishing Southern stories; would love a shot at being in this. I know that I and several other Southern authors made it into Best American this year, at least as notables, so there’s no shortage of good Southern work to choose from… I guess the editors lost interest. A pity. This anthology series has always been one of my favorites.
