  1. ELLEN FOSTER is an all time favorite of mine. It was this book that established my initial admiration of Kaye Gibbons’ talent and works. The fact she lives in my own hometown made her even more special. I have several of her books now and they all have unique, distinctive voices. She writes about life in the south with the precision of someone who knows it well.
